Getting around Paris faster: Why taxis are better than Uber

If you are visiting Paris and have to get somewhere fast and on time, you may want to consider grabbing a Taxi instead of an Uber. It may not be what you want to hear, but trust me.

The leading taxi company in Paris is called G7. You can check their website here and their app for iOS and Android. They work very similar to Uber—you create an account, add your credit card, and you are good to go.

Why I recommend G7

During rush hour, taxis can drive in the many bus lanes across the city. This little difference can significantly reduce travel times, especially if you have to get somewhere in time for a show at the opera or the tour you have been looking forward to.

The other big advantage of G7 over Uber is that you can schedule a pick-up and they will guarantee a pick-up. The driver will actually be some five minutes ahead of your selected time and will notify you via message. Win!

From what I have gathered, Uber puts out your request to be picked up some 15 minutes before the time you selected and the app says they won't guarantee a pick-up.

A final advantage, if you're going to any of the airports or just landed looking for a chill way into Paris, the taxis offer a flat fee of €62 to CDG and €41 to Orly. You can see their fee chart here on their website.
